Erika Johnson
Sr. Volunteer Coordinator
Erika Johnson is an Administrative Officer for the Department of State within the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington, DC. She started her college career at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, MD by receiving an Associates Degree in Sociology. She continued her education at Bowie State University where she received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. Torn between becoming a Social Worker and a Parole Officer, she decided it was best to take some time away from school to determine what direction God wanted her to go. She used her time to start Lillie & Betsy Creations Event Planning services in November 2016 servicing the metropolitan area. She specialized in decorating children’s parties, baby showers, anniversaries, and any event that required decorations and a touch of elegance. In addition to creating her business, she also worked along side her mom who at the time was the Youth Director of Corinth Baptist Church in Capital Heights, MD to coordinate activities for children ages 2-18 by creating a youth movie which would take place every 4th Friday of the month, back to school supplies and book bags give away, Fall Harvest Festival in lieu of Halloween, Pink Party celebration and remembrance ceremony in honor all the breast cancer survivors and a list of other activities to keep children engaged. Erika loves working with children of all ages but has a huge heart for teen mothers. She hopes to one day encourage all young people to stay focus and don’t let life’s small hurdles discourage them from fulfilling their purpose. Her favorite quote is THINK as BIG as the boss. Work as HARD as the employees. Yet, REMAIN as HUMBLE as the interns. In other words, Think big, work hard, remain humble. Please email Erika for all volunteer inquiries at Erika.IJW2H@gmail.com
